For over 50 years the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) has tracked Santa’s flight making sure the skies are clear for each stage of his Yuletide journey. NORAD uses four high-tech systems to track Santa — radar, satellites, Santa Cams and fighter jets.
The public can follow Santa’s journey through NORAD Santa cams, the ultra-cool, high-tech, high-speed digital cameras that NORAD pre-positions at many locations around the world. The cameras capture images and videos of Santa and his reindeer as they make their journey around the world.
There are a number of ways you can track Santa with NORAD including:
- Cesium
- Bing Maps
- Mobile Santa apps, and
- Speak with a live operator
While you’re at it, check out these other great mobile apps from our federal colleagues across government on the USA.gov Apps gallery.
Wishing you all a happy holiday and peaceful joyous new year!

Santa cams sounds like a fantasy. I guess kids would love it and they would have one more thing added to their wish list next Christmas. Missed him this year, but will be prepared next Christmas with NORAD santa cams.
